90% Of Brits Listen To Radio Each Week

Posted on

Nine in ten Brits listen to the radio for at least five minutes each week, the latest research from Ofcom has revealed.

The organisation’s Media Nations 2019 report found that the weekly reach of radio broadcasters has remained broadly stable in the past six years. However, people are now listening to more stations each week than in the past. On average, listeners tune into 3.6 stations a week, up from the 2.9 stations recorded in 2014.

Live radio is still the most popular kind of broadcast, taking up 67 per cent of audio time among UK adults. The average amount of time people spent listening to radio of all kinds is 20 hours and 54 minutes each week.

It seems that radio is by far the most popular form of audio that we listen to when we’re driving. Two-thirds of the radio listeners surveyed said that they tune into live radio on an AM/FM radio when they’re in the car. 46 per cent also said they listen on an in-car DAB radio.

However, the report noted that the increasing amount of connected technology being included in our cars means that drivers have more options than ever before when it comes to what they listen to when they’re behind the wheel. On-demand streaming services, podcasts and music stored on a phone were all other options used among drivers.

Last month, it was revealed that the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol is the most-played song of the 21st century on UK radio. I Gotta Feeling by the Black-Eyed Peas was second, and Happy by Pharrell was third.

Enclosures... Which is right for me???

The type of bass you get from your subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, well-constructed enclosure to obtain optimum subwoofer performance. A subwoofer without an enclosure is unable to deliver the full depth of sound or maximum output, due to the sound from the back of the speaker cancelling out some [...]
